Are you excited about paving your own path in ICT by exploring the cutting edge of what technology makes possible? Are you the curious type, ready to venture out into the unknown, exploring the big 'what's next?' in your field?

The research-based learning trajectory sets you on the path of a junior professional working on hands-on applied tasks that propel professional advancements in ICT. In other words, you are shaping the future of your field by working and learning in a format that lets you discover a research and development-driven attitude. With change as the only constant in your field, you develop professional agility, a methodical approach and an entrepreneurial outlook, by working on authentic tasks. Skills that are essential for you as an ICT professional working on the sharp end of innovation and advancement.

NOTE: Research-based learning has a central role in semesters 5 through 8. Both course-based (CB) and demand-based (DB) help you grow into a semi-professional with an entrepreneurial/investigative attitude. Research-based learning is available for you as a student from either the CB or DB trajectory and best suited if you prefer to start with predefined learning outcomes, instead of the freedom of Open Learning. Both learning approaches lead to the development of the same set of skills required for a well-rounded ICT-professional.

Josephine's choice

Hello! I am Josephine, 20 years old. Two years ago, I moved from Groningen to Eindhoven to study ICT & Media Design at Fontys ICT. I've always been fascinated by the why and how of everything surrounding me. I want to find answers hidden far beneath the surface. It's no wonder my family jokingly calls me 'Curious George'!

I love exploring the unknown, discovering other ways of looking at the world and the new possibilities that go with it. That's why I enjoy travelling unfamiliar terrain on my mountain bike and listening to podcasts that investigate the unknown. And that's also why I chose the Research-based learning method: learning through research and development on a clearly defined goal suits me best.
