Open learning

Do you already know what kind of ICT professional you want to be? Are you ready to prepare for your own specialisation area? Do you want to plan out your own learning path? Would you prefer to specialise, or would you prefer to become an all-around IT professional?

With the Open teaching method, you are free to plan your own semester and path towards your future-role as an ICT professional able to push new developments in your field! Your own learning objective forms the basis of your ICT profile. You can choose from a whole range of challenging assignments in practice to help you reach your personal learning outcomes and develop your professional skillset.

With your coach (and students in your group), you search for learning activities that can provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to develop the investigative and entrepreneurial outlook essential in your field. Multiple feedback moments throughout the semester will give you support not only in your development as an ICT professional but also in providing you with a clear idea of how your competences are progressing.

Nila’s choice

Hi! My name is Nila! My friends would describe me as pro-active, creative, critical and a good networker. Social contact is very important to me.

I have many interests. My hobbies include both photography and graphic design, but I also enjoy gaming with my friends, fitness and I work part-time as a web-designer. I have learned a lot through front-end development, but ever since I became fascinated by interactive art, I have also started experimenting with hardware.

I really want earn my HBO-ICT diploma and start a challenging job which allows me to be both creative and innovative. I would like to acquire broader knowledge and keep all my options open. That is the why I chose the teaching method Open learning.

"I like being independent: setting my own objectives and choosing my own learning activities gives me the energy I need to really go for it"

I like being independent: setting my own objectives and choosing my own learning activities gives me the energy I need to really go for it. That I can always ask questions or request workshops is also reassuring.

I hope to complete an “art and tech” challenge next year, and gain more hardware experience within the context of a social issue. I would prefer to do this with other students who are also really motivated. I find it difficult to choose, but I’m sure I will succeed with the help of my coach. I know that Open learning comes with a lot of responsibility, but I’m ready for that!
